Is this service black hat?

Any type of link building that is done to manipulate the search engines is considered a no-no in Google's eyes. Google would like to see you put up good content and attract links. Any other link building effort crosses that very fine line.

We consider cloaking to be black hat and link building to be gray hat. We are not cloakers, just link builders, so we consider this service gray hat.

When we talk about the risks of getting quality links, we are mostly considering the over-optimization that can happen. When a site is over-optimized it means they are getting to many quality links vs links that say "click here" or use the URL as anchor text. When we see a site drop a 100 spots or so over night, that is usually what is happening and we pull the keyword feeds and insert URLs as anchor text.
